Event Date: Saturday, 14 October 2006
Place: Anglesea Shopping Precinct
Time: 10am - 3pm
Speak Out is a fun interactive opportunity for you to have a say
about Anglesea and its surrounds.
Whether you are concerned about the environment or the level or
type of recreational facilities and support services available,
on Saturday October 14 you have a unique opportunity to record ,
your views in creative and thought provocative ways.
Speak Out will take place from 10am - 3pm in the heart of Anglesea's
shopping precinct, in front of 38° South and the Cool Sea surf
shop.
Stalls, staffed by experienced Surf Coast Shire personnel, will
give you information and offer creative activities to express your
ideas relating to a broad range of issues including youth, environment,
children's services, Anglesea Riverbank Master Plan, older members
of the community, and Local Area Planning.
Your ideas and input will be recorded by a scribe and via an array
of creative methods including hand painting on a large communal
canvas. Participants will also be invited to mark where they live
on a large map.
Community engagement facilitator, Chad Foulkes, says feedback received
at Speak Out will be collated and a summary report ,of ideas and
concerns distributed to all those who take part in the event.
"This feedback is valuable as it will help to identify the
needs and aspirations of the community whether they relate to '
childcare, transport, employment or the recreational and environmental
concerns of the Anglesea riverbank" Mr Foulkes says.
"Once we have collated feedback, we are then in a better position
to work with the community to achieve some positive outcomes. Local
Area Planning , groups will be established to target resources and
funding and help people form networks and develop skills to accomplish
some specific community goals," he says.
Mr Foulkes thanks Anglesea businesses including 38° South,
Cool Sea surf shop, Jums, Laneway Cafe, the Anglesea Bakery, Trailhead
Bike Company and Furio's for supporting Speak Out and providing
yummy food to participants. Surf Coast Shire would also like to
thank the Anglesea Community Bendigo, Batik for part sponsorship
of the event.
Speak. Out is a collaborative , event and representatives from
Barwon Health, the Department of Human Services, Glastonbury and
Bethany family services will also be present on the day to hear
your ideas and concerns.
Anglesea Speak Out is the first of a series of events that will
give people an opportunity to express bow' they feel about the areas
where they live.
A similar event will beheld at the Aireys Inlet School Fair on
November 4 with other events planned for Deans Marsh, Winchelsea,
and Moriac across the next 12-months.
